The department is pleased to announce that two of our graduate students have successfully defended their PhD Dissertation in the last month. First, in Economic History, Leo Jude Dolan: His dissertation "The Economics of Forced Labour Mining in 20th Century Colonial Africa", directed by Dácil Juif, received the grade 'Sobresaliente Cum Laude' and the International Degree label. Second, in Social Sciences, Josep Serrano Serrat: His dissertation "The Occupational Roots of Political Preferences: The role of specific skills and labor market context ", directed by Ignacio Jurado Nebreda, received the grade 'Sobresaliente Cum Laude' and the International Doctoral Mention. We congratulate these excellent students for their success in completing their PhD Dissertation, and wish them luck in their future endeavors

Javier Lorenzo elected Dean of the College of Politologists and Sociologists of the CAM
On May 6, the professor of the Department of Social Sciences Javier Lorenzo Rodríguez was elected Dean of the Professional College in Political Science, Sociology, International Relations and Public Administration of the Community of Madrid. The College is an institution with a long tradition of looking after the future of graduates in these fields and contributing to the development of their professional careers.
