Nos complace comunicar que Ana Laura Catelén, estudiante de nuestro programa de doctorado en Historia Económica, ha superado con éxito la defensa de su Tesis Doctoral, titulada "Economic Volatility and the Policy Pendulum in Argentina's Long Twentieth Century". Bajo la dirección de Esteban Nicolini, el tribunal otorgó a la tesis la calificación de Sobresaliente Cum Laude. Desde el departamento queremos felicitar a la nueva doctora por este magnífico trabajo y desearle mucho éxito en la siguiente etapa de su carrera académica.

We are delighted to announce that Ana Laura Catelén, a student in our Economic History PhD programme, has successfully passed the defence of her Doctoral Thesis, entitled "Economic Volatility and the Policy Pendulum in Argentina's Long Twentieth Century." Under the supervision of Esteban Nicolini, the thesis was awarded the grade of Excellent Cum Laude. The department would like to congratulate the new doctor on this outstanding achievement and wish her every success in the next stage of her academic career.

The department is pleased to announce that two of our graduate students have successfully defended their PhD Dissertation in the last month.  First, in Economic History, Leo Jude Dolan: His dissertation "The Economics of Forced Labour Mining in 20th Century Colonial Africa", directed by Dácil Juif, received the grade 'Sobresaliente Cum Laude' and the International Degree label.  Second, in Social Sciences, Josep Serrano Serrat:  His dissertation "The Occupational Roots of Political Preferences: The role of specific skills and labor market context ", directed by  Ignacio Jurado Nebreda, received the grade 'Sobresaliente Cum Laude' and the International Doctoral Mention.  We congratulate these excellent students for their success in completing their PhD Dissertation, and wish them luck in their future endeavors

El departamento se complace en comunicar que David Fernando Forero Torres ha completado con éxito su Doctorado en Historia Económica. Su tesis doctoral, titulada “The Long Century of Latin American Economic Development: Industrialization, Trade Integration and Social Outcomes”, fue dirigida por Antonio Tena Junguito y ha recibido la calificación de Sobresaliente Cum Laude. Le damos la enhorabuena a David por alcanzar este logro y le deseamos todo lo mejor en sus próximos pasos profesionales.

The department is pleased to announce that David Fernando Forero Torres has successfully completed his PhD in Economic History. His doctoral dissertation, titled “The Long Century of Latin American Economic Development: Industrialization, Trade Integration and Social Outcomes”, was supervised by Antonio Tena Junguito and was awarded the distinction of Excellent Cum Laude. We congratulate David on reaching this milestone and wish him all the best in his future professional endeavors.

Javier Lorenzo elected Dean of the College of Politologists and Sociologists of the CAM

On May 6, the professor of the Department of Social Sciences Javier Lorenzo Rodríguez was elected Dean of the Professional College in Political Science, Sociology, International Relations and Public Administration of the Community of Madrid. The College is an institution with a long tradition of looking after the future of graduates in these fields and contributing to the development of their professional careers.
